A lire: un pastiche de Sherlock Holmes par Michael Moorcock. The Further Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, The Affair of the Texan’s Honour. Une des plus belles nouvelles-hommages à Holmes que j’ai jamais lu. Déjà publiée par deux fois sur papier. En écrira-t-il réellement d’autres?? (il indique « 1 sur 13″… Hum…).

Et pour parler de Michael Moorcock, il n’est pas vraiment tendre avec The Lord of the Rings, dans la (toujours épatante) newsletter humoristique de Dave Langford, Ansible:

« I actually saw Lord of the Rings (en famille — that is, the nieces and in-laws watched, Linda snored gently through most of it, to wake up occasionally to utter a snort of irritation, and I had to leave twice in spite of me bad legs, just to get away from the boredom. They did it again! m’écrivait l’autre jour mon copain Patrick… Et argh, c’et vrai! Encore un nouveau jouet splendide…

J’adorais vraiment le Cube: beau, simple — et parfaitement silencieux, ce qui me semblait le plus bel argument possible pour un nouvel ordinateur. Hélas, il n’a pas marché. Ceci dit, le New iMac me semble lui aussi extrêmement séduisant!

Je me tâte: vais-je craquer et enfin acheter un nouvel ordi pour remplacer mon vieux G3 gris qui, certes, fonctionne toujours très bien, mais commence à me poser de nets problèmes de compatibilité? Hum, m’endetter ne me dit pas trop, mais d’un autre côté j’aimerai vraiment avoir un graveur de CD, pouvoir utiliser un appareil photo numérique, ne plus subir l’encombrement de mon écran, tout ça tout ça… Une interrogation tout de même: ces New iMac sont-ils silencieux, eux aussi, comme l’était le Cube?
